''Sweatin" the Judge's race....

Reports just in of candidate Stan Durden shooting a TV spot on the steps of the courthouse this week. There's been very little press on this contested Superior Court Judge's race, and myself being admittedly distrustful (if not not downright contemptuous) of lawyers generally, I'm even more ignorant about this race than I was about the Solicitor's race this summer.

I do know it's pretty rare for a sitting judge to be challenged. Anyone (maybe our attorney readers) have any insight for the rest of us?

I'm not certain that asserting that you are contemptuous and/or distrustful of lawyers is the best way to invite them to provide insight into this race. ;)

However I'll confirm the commercial tidbit. I also saw some filming going on at the courthouse for the commercial. The part I witnessed was just Stan walking up to a couple who were way too happy to see anyone, not to mention Stan Durden. Some real subtle acting going on in that particular take. Another attorney I spoke with said they saw 20 or so people on the courthouse steps all yealling in unison "Vote for Stan" or something along those lines.

Is anyone else getting "Stan Duden for Judge" on their toolbar and tab when they visit the webpage?

Endorsements "under construction?"

"under construction" = "being fabricated?"

Anyway, it sounds like you have some insight into this race, crewzin. What's the issue? (ARE there issues?)

The website does have some errors and bad coding. Duden is a canidate, and the links bar seems to be quite small. There is also html code visible. The privacy policy also is not linked properly.

But, I confess, it is better than what I would have coded.

Judge Sweat is the first judge I've been before whom I never had the least concern would give short shrift to my client's legal rights in any way. I may disagree with his rulings sometimes (well, when he rules against me), but I have never suspected those rulings came from anything but honest judgment, thoughtful consideration, and true respect for legal principles and what he believes is the right thing to do. I have nothing favorable to say about his opponent.

Durden never let the truth get in the way.
