Pretty Peach Sticker Redux

Martin, Hicks, and Overend.

Turnout looked to be shit, as expected.

What's the good word out there?

I was voter # 22 at 8:30am on Island City South. No one else was even in the parking lot, though the poll workers were nice enough. We joked about how hard their jobs were going to be today (well, I was serious, as I hate just sitting around being bored). I thanked them for working the polls, they thanked me for voting.

Martin/Hicks votes were cast, and it only took about two seconds to do so.

Though people in the grocery store later asked me what in the world I was voting for today....

RE: Buckner being able to win. I doubt she can win either. So far, all I've heard her message on is that she was able to beat a Republican with 90% of the vote. While that might be a good message for Democratic primary/runoff voters (although I doubt it is), it's not going to fly in the general.

I've also heard Buckner mention that she isn't using this as a stepping stone. Bully for her. I don't care, and neither will a vast majority of general election voters.

Now Hicks isn't much (if any) better. His attempts to tie his previous work experience to the job description run the gamut from tenuous to ludicrous.

Bottom line, voting for Buckner on an electability argument is fatuous in my opinion, though I'm willing to be proven wrong. Hicks isn't any better, however.

I frankly think that the only two people with a shot at a November victory lost in the primary.

I voted for Overend. I think his attitude toward making downtown business owners partners in the fight against underage drinking is the right way to go. I think the majority of bar owners do not want underagers and I think they would be excellent law enforcement partners in this regard.

I think his "zero tolerance" regarding speeding is a little off the beam, though.

I voted for C.R., Martin and Hicks. Really, I only voted for Hicks out of spite - I heard the progressive vote split three ways between the candidates I favored for SoS. I really wanted Reddy to win. :(

As usual, I was the only person voting.

I went on Friday. Martin, Buckner, and Overend.

You want your voting reforms incredibly politicized on the basis of someone's future political career?

SOS has little or nothing to do with voting reforms. The ones that get through to the SOS have to come through the State Leg. anyway, and talk about politicized...

Yes, I know. I know. But don't trash my reason for voting for Buckner. I think it's a good reason.
