So David Poythress, the Adjutant General of Georgia's National Guard, has announced that he will retire in November.

Is he planning to run for something?

Who knows. He was a prominent figure in the Georgia Democatic party running for governor in 1998, losing in the primary, was the secretary of state after Ben Fortson died & was Labor Commissioner. He lives in Gwinnett County so it's possible he may run against John Linder 7th district seat, or posssibly run for the 8th district if Jim Marshall run for the senate. He is a macon native, or he could challenge Saxby Chambliss in 2008. A lot of possibilities.
