Can someone please put that last sentence on a T-shirt?
I concur, that really is lovely.
So how did it turn out? It's interesting that the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as the african american Chamber of Commerce (Northeast Georgia Business Council) are supporting the two minority candidates in the runoffs. When was the last time these competing organizations joined forces against an incumbent Mayor? Do you think the poverty situation, lack of jobs, and neighborhood gentrification issues have created these strange bedfellows or is it something more?
Black folks will always vote for the Black candidate. Period. The Chamber Of Commerce will always endorse whichever candidate will do their bidding. Period.
If Heidi was Black and wanted to mow everything down in Athens the situation would be reversed.
