New Local Blog

James Garland, formed District 1 Commission candidate, has started his own blog called "The Other Athens." Kudos to him. James has always been active in the comments section of this blog (back when there was an active comments section), and here's hoping his new blog stirs some debate and conversation.

Since we're so %&$ing slack.

Of course, it wasn't two days before a relatively benign post by James was hijacked by local one-issue wack-job
Winfield J. Abbe, whom some of you may remember from the now-defunct Online Athens forum as CrunchMeow.

Actually, I think it's going to be a lot of fun....

My recollection is that Crunchmeow was definitely not Abbe.

The comments above about me are perfect examples why people should not be permitted to post anonymously. While there are certain circumstances when it is warranted, most of the time it is not. It is well known that people behave differently when they do not have to identify themselves. This is why it is even illegal to have a false identification card or present false identification to any government official. It is a form of fraud. When people use false identification they can make any false statement whatsoever and there are no consequences to them. This is the case above with the male or female or other blackfin_day making false statements about me. Obviously this individual evidently does not have the intellectual capacity to address issues, only seek to divert attention from the issues to the messenger. Too bad you don't like what I say. I think you know what you can do about it. You see, freedom of speech applies to every citizen, not just anonymous cowards, like bullys stomping someone to death in a crowd and then running away to hide in their anonymity. Mr Garland invited the public, any member, to read and post on his site. I did that. If you or anyone else does not like it you know what you can do about it. If Mr. Garland does not like it, he can tell me and I will immediately stop posting on his site. But if he does this, his site will be rendered solely as one sided propaganda trash. In my post on www.athens101.com on commissioner Lowry yesterday, I signed my true name, address and telephone number. Everyone should notice that not only did this anonymous poster above spread false information, none of the comments were justified with any factual presentation, and no true name, address or telephone number were presented. Is not this very similar to how the KKK operates, hidden under their white sheets while kill people?

OK, so you weren't crunchmeow?

Well then, I retract the "false information" that I so callously posted.

But you're still a whack job.

Which, BTW, is opinion, not fact.

Now where is my white sheet......

Everyone should notice the weak retraction by he, she or it above. He, she or it was perfectly willing to permit a patently false statement to remain.
Even with this opinion, he, she or it provides no factual presentation or defense of he, she or its' opinion. He, she or it is also free to believe anything, like the earth if flat or objects fall up instead of down or in the toothfairy too. Therefore everyone reading he, she or its' posts must regard them as misleading at best or false at worst.
I post in many forums and publish in many forums on many issues of public concern. I make every effort not to make false or misleading statements about anything. But I don't indulge government hypocrites, who expect indulgence for their "errors" or failures of judgement, while forcing citizens threats of jail time, fines and/or confiscation of property. I also have letters to editors published as one was the other day in the Los Angeles Times.
Two vital concerns in Athens are the Jennifer Stone Murder cover up by Athens Clarke County and the forced and secret expenditure of tax money to pay lawyers to prevent the opening of the murder file as ordered by the Georgia Court of Appeals. Another vital issue is that of the gift of the Navy School to UGA. I have written extensively on both issues and anyone is free to comment including he, she or it above. So far, only one other anonymous individual has. Here are the links to these posts:

My true name, and address are in both posts. They won't permit telephone numbers or mine would be published there.

Well, in that case, I take it back. Since you published your address, you're not a whack-job.

I humbly apologize.

Easiest way to unhijack a thread it to never, ever feed the trolls.
