Merry Fitz-mas!

Have we lost sight of the crime? Nobody's been indicted for the crime that required a Special Prosecutor...perhaps no crime was committed?

That's actually pretty impressive if you put that little poem together Corleone.

So, Bulletdawg, you've already tried and convicted Mr. Libby?

That's mighty fast work...

This is the reason he was indicted - not for the eventuality that he may be convicted, but so that he may be pilloried by the public without the benefit of due process.

Good work, people...

Well, heaven forbid you get on my jury...why does location exempt one from due process?

I want to have Patrick Fitzgerald's children. Or, more honestly, I want to have a lot of sex with him, and would accept children as a reasonable if unpleasant and troublesome outcome.

The reason they indicted him is to force him to tell the truth, and turn him on his friends in higher places. They're hoping that he'll want a plea bargain, in fact they were trying to work that out last week, but didn't get there. The last thing the Bushipoos want is to have this case go to trial immediately before the mid-term elections. They know it will turn into a referendum on the war and the lies they told to get us into it.

Who lied, Libby or some reporters? At least one reporter cited in the indictment says that they left out part of his comments, making it look worse than it is.

The counts all hinge on the same thing: Libby did not remember that, in the course of some briefings he had received, that a person vaguely identified sometimes as Joe Wilson's wife, sometimes as Valerie Plame, was an employee of the CIA. Nowhere is it alleged that she was a covert operative or that her identity was actively concealed by the CIA - which is the crux of the law that was alleged to be broken.

So, the crime was never committed, and the activities for which the indictment were issued took place ~after~ the investigation began, and the only crime that actually took place was Libby forgetting that he had been told one fact among thousands on which he had been briefed.

All of this will be forgotten by mid-term elections, because it is all so trivial. No trial will be held, and no more "secrets" will be revealed...but lots of Democrats are beside themselves, thinking they have another Watergate on their hands. This is not even a third-rate burglary. Libby will be forgotten, just like Sandy Berger and his crimes have been forgotten.

I hope ~you~ enjoy getting screwed by the prosecutor, and remember that abortion is always available for those "unpleasant and troublesome" outcomes.
